The share of cars imported into Russia through parallel imports has decreased by 8.5%. This is reported by Otkritie Bank.
This is 4.5% less than in March of this year. In April, parallel car imports were at 11%. It is likely to decrease even further.
In fact, parallel imports have returned to the autumn level.
It is worth recalling that Japanese Toyota cars (8% of all registrations), as well as Chinese Li Xiang (9%) and Geely (13%) are most often imported into Russia.
Earlier, the Russian authorities announced that parallel imports would be extended to 2025, but the number of goods allowed to be imported into the country will be reduced. In the field of passenger car industry, a decrease in the share of parallel imports benefits AvtoVAZ and other domestic manufacturers, which mainly assemble Chinese cars in Russia with varying degrees of localization.
It is worth recalling that on the market of new passenger cars in our country, only LADA, UAZ, GAZelle, Solaris (a number of Hyundai and Kia models), as well as Citroen (X5 Aircross) remain from non-Chinese cars.
