First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov stated that the country's government intends to extend the parallel import for 2025. Nevertheless, the number of goods that can be imported into the country will be reduced.
We have decided in the government to extend it for next year, for 2025.
The reduction of categories allowed for import will occur as Russia can replace the necessary products through import substitution. Manturov called such actions by the authorities a conscious policy.
Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov (who replaced Manturov in this position) previously stated that the authorities are in favor of extending parallel imports. At the same time, the official added that 600 items could be removed from the list of goods allowed for import.
It should be recalled that the parallel import mechanism has been in effect in the country since the summer of 2022. Goods are imported into Russia without the consent of the manufacturer and copyright holder, both through third countries and from where they were produced.
