The Project 20385 corvette "Provorny," a carrier of long-range high-precision missile weapons, was launched in St. Petersburg. The solemn ceremony with the participation of sailors took place at the "Severnaya Verf" shipyard (part of the "United Shipbuilding Corporation," USC), the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
The ceremony was held under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev. Representatives of USC and the shipyard, and the leadership of St. Petersburg took part in it.
After completion afloat and testing, "Provorny" will be accepted into the Pacific Fleet. The corvette will make the transition to the Far East.
Project 20385 corvettes are a modernization of the basic Project 20380. The main features of the new project are increased displacement and more powerful missile weapons. Currently, the lead ship 20385 "Gremyashchiy" is performing tasks in the northeast of Russia.
