На московском заводе после оптимизации стали производить на 65% больше электросчетчиков

«Milur IS» Reduced Production Time of One Device from 13 Hours to 9 Hours

Moscow-based microelectronics manufacturer «Milur IS» has managed to increase the output of its main product — electricity meters — by 65% without increasing production capacity or hiring new employees. The company was able to optimize its operations during its participation in the national project «Labor Productivity».

«Milur IS» has been developing and mass-producing a wide range of intelligent multi-tariff electricity meters from domestic components for over five years. It also develops technologies for managing «Smart Home» and «Smart City» systems.

Single-phase 7m model meters for electricity metering in residential buildings, commercial premises, and communal infrastructure facilities account for 62% of the company's output, so this production stream was chosen for the project.

Over six months, experts from the Moscow Regional Competence Center changed the usual workflow in this area. They not only conducted a series of training sessions on productivity development for employees, but also:

  • conducted diagnostics of work processes, identified problems that hinder effective work, and eliminated them using lean manufacturing tools;
  • implemented a new storage system — employees began to spend less time searching for components for assembling meters;
  • changed the standards for performing operational procedures — downtime and the probability of defects decreased;
  • marked work areas and optimized employee movement routes on the territory. This made it possible to balance the workload of personnel and increase output.
As a result, over six months, the company was able to reduce the time required to produce devices by a third: now the entire process — from unpacking the components to shipping the finished products to the warehouse — takes 9 hours instead of 13. Production output increased by 65 percent — from 4.85 to eight meters per person per shift. Unused inventory decreased by 61 percent. The company received an economic effect from participating in the project in the amount of more than 47 million rubles.

It is worth noting that «Milur IS» is part of JSC «PKK Milandr», which recently announced a multiple increase in its production for aircraft manufacturing and «smart» meters. By 2025, it will produce 1 million microcontrollers, non-volatile memory, and interface microcircuits for these consumers monthly. Before that, «Milandr» specialists produced 1 million microcircuits per year.
