Specialists from Karelia's largest machine-building site, "Petrozavodskmash" (part of the Rosatom State Corporation's machine-building division since 2010), have shipped the first batch of pipeline valve products for power units No. 5 and No. 6 of the Kudankulam NPP (India, Tamil Nadu state).
The main function of the products is to hermetically shut off the flow of liquid or gas to ensure reliable operation of the system. The plant produces them according to its own design and technological documentation.
The Rosatom press service added that the equipment from the production site will be delivered to the port in St. Petersburg by road. From there, the products will be shipped to India by sea.
Rosatom is constructing four power units (No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6) at the Kudankulam NPP. Power units No. 1 and No. 2 were commissioned in 2014-2016. The first work on the construction of power unit No. 3 began in June 2017 (concrete pouring).
The nuclear facility will be equipped with VVER-1000 reactors (generation |||+) with a total capacity of 4,000 MW (4 x 1000 MW).
