The crews of the small anti-submarine ships (MPK) "Urengoy" and "Kazanets" of Project 1331 of the Baltic Fleet practiced destroying a submarine with torpedoes during exercises. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The crews of the small anti-submarine ships "Urengoy" and "Kazanets" of the Baltic Fleet conducted a planned exercise in the Baltic Sea at combat training ranges to search for and destroy an enemy submarine with the conditional use of anti-submarine weapons systems.
During the exercise, the ships conducted a joint search for a submarine, and also practiced tracking techniques and anti-submarine maneuvering. One of the pisodes of the exercise was the implementation of conditional depth bombing and training torpedo firing.
The ships "Urengoy" and "Kazanets" are armed with anti-aircraft and artillery systems AK-176 and AK-630, RBU-6000 rocket launchers and 533-mm torpedo tubes, as well as modern sonar systems.
MPCs are designed to search for, track and destroy submarines in the near sea and coastal zone.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russia and Egypt conducted joint exercises in the Mediterranean Sea. The parties practiced the formation of a detachment of warships in the designated area, joint tactical maneuvering in various formations, conducted communication training and ensured the flights of deck helicopters.
