«Приемлемое решение»: АвтоВАЗ взял на работу 200 осужденных

They assemble LADA cars at the plant in Togliatti

The head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that 200 people convicted of forced labor work at the plant in Togliatti. The top manager admitted that at first they were very wary of this, but then they were satisfied with the result.

And the team, our staff, and the employees themselves are very happy with this. I believe that this was a perfectly acceptable and timely solution.
Maxim Sokolov

Note that the plans of AvtoVAZ to hire people sentenced to forced labor were first announced in June last year. Then this was stated in the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Samara Region, explaining this by the plant's plans to increase production volumes. It was argued that up to half of the necessary labor resources could be covered by convicts.

In total, the auto giant hired 5,700 people last year. In 2024, about a thousand people were employed at the plant in Izhevsk.

Sokolov said that agreements on finding workers are being concluded with Russia's neighbors – Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. He emphasized that work in this direction is carried out selectively.
