The head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, stated that one of the largest Russian car manufacturers, Avtotor, intends to assemble 70,000 cars this year. This figure is almost half of what the company's owners previously planned for 2024.
Much depends on how they налаживают work with their Chinese partners.
Let us remind you that this year the management of the Kaliningrad plant planned to produce 130,000 cars. In April, the head of the board of directors of Avtotor Holding LLC Valery Gorbunov named figures from 80 thousand to 100 thousand cars. Now Alikhanov has reduced the plan by another 10 thousand cars – to 70 thousand.
Talks about how many cars Avtotor will be able to assemble are taking place against the backdrop of criticism of this company by the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov. The top manager was outraged by the words of the president of Avtotor Denis Pak, who said that AvtoVAZ had itself begun to compete with Chinese brands, raising the price of LADA by 40% in two years. Sokolov did not remain silent in response and noted that the Kaliningrad plant does not localize the manufactured cars.
None of the elements of the cars that Avtotor assembles are localized. I don't know how they see their mission. Who are they working for? They probably work for their shareholders.
Let us remind you that Chinese cars JMC, Jetour, Kaiyi, BAIC, SWM, Foton, Dongfeng Sokon come from the walls of Avtotor.
