More than 20 Russian companies of the Skolkovo Foundation showcased their achievements in robotics, biomedicine and artificial intelligence (AI). The presentation of innovative developments took place on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2024).
Motorica, a developer of bionic prostheses, brought its work to the forum. Representatives of the company presented to the general public for the first time what they are working on now:
We have working prototypes of new control systems that will allow you to control each finger individually with natural movement. A neural network is used there to recognize gestures. They will go into production in the next couple of years. Otherwise, these prostheses will look exactly the same — have an individual design and a futuristic appearance.
In the meantime, a representative of Motorica showed all the guests of the SPIEF how skillfully he handles his prosthesis — also developed by the company. The robotic fingers slide easily along the fretboard, Maxim Emets is not just an employee, he is also the main "guinea pig" — he tests the prostheses himself.
The prosthesis model is controlled by two sensors. One is located on the forearm side, the other is near the little finger. When the arm moves, the sensors read signals of electrical activity of the muscles from the skin surface, then the information is processed using a special board. This bionic prosthesis allows you to perform a variety of actions — it all depends on the user's needs.
The entertainment of the participants was provided by the robot Zhenya from Promobot. He recited poetry, joked, answered questions and actively gesticulated. "Zhenya" generates information on request using Yandex GPT AI, and then answers questions. This allows him to communicate on a variety of topics. The humanoid robot is also integrated with the chat bot of the Moscow Region Housing and Communal Services. This makes it possible to answer highly specialized questions.
At the Innovation Territory site, AML Crypto and Atom Security presented their cybersecurity solutions. Cleaning robots from Waybot Robotics kept the stand clean. Soluble magnesium implants from the developer Osteo Cyber were also demonstrated.
The startup Beri Zaryad provided power banks for charging guests' devices. Food and drinks at the event were provided by the food truck developer Mobitrak.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that artificial intelligence will help Russian Post speed up delivery.
