A division of the Bastion coastal defense missile system (CDMS) from the Chukotka regiment of coastal defense of the Red Banner Troops and Forces in the North-East of Russia practiced searching for and destroying a mock enemy ship. This was reported by the press service of the Pacific Fleet (PF).
At the beginning of the exercise, the Bastion combat crews, on alert, prepared weapons and military equipment to march from the place of permanent deployment to the designated area.
The column of equipment included a launch battery and a control battery, a unit of direct cover and defense to repel an attack by sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the mock enemy.
As part of the training to detect and destroy a ship of a mock enemy, the Chukotka missilemen practiced changing the positional area after the mock use of missile weapons. They also performed all types of necessary actions: from protecting the deployment area to air defense.
In total, more than 100 servicemen took part in the exercise, 10 units of equipment were used.
Bastion is designed to protect a sea coast over 600 kilometers long. It strikes surface ships of various classes and types from amphibious formations in conditions of intense fire and electronic countermeasures.
The Bastion launcher on the MZKT-7930 chassis carries supersonic Oniks missiles with a firing range, according to open sources, within 300-500 km. The speed of the Oniks is 2.5 times the speed of sound, and the interval between launches of two munitions is 2.5 seconds.
