The Altai Trucks truck brand will be showcased at the COMvex exhibition in Moscow at the end of May. The manufacturer, Keystone Auto, claims that the trucks were developed in collaboration with the automotive faculty of St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. However, experts are confident that the vehicles are manufactured in China.
A total of four models will be presented at the exhibition. Among them are the heavy four-axle tractor MAYMA 460 and the light-duty ARGUT 90 with a gross weight of 3.5 tons. There is no information about the received type approval certificates (OTTS) or vehicle type approval certificates (OTSH) for the models on the Rosstandart website.
Experts in the automotive industry are confident that Altai Trucks is not a Russian development, but rather models from Wanshan Special Vehicle. The company specializes in military multi-axle tractors, but also produces civilian models.
It is worth noting that trucks under the Altai brand were already produced in Russia in 2007. It was a rebadged FAW. Production was attempted in Biysk, but the plant was unable to reach profitability and closed in the mid-2010s.
