В России может сократиться число камер на дорогах

Due to new requirements for photo and video recording of violations, the number of cameras may decrease by 70% by September 1

New requirements for photo and video recording of violations on the roads will come into effect in Russia on September 1. This refers to the adopted amendments to the federal law on the organization of road traffic and new rules for the installation of violation recording systems, which are being prepared by the Ministry of Transport. Experts in the automotive industry believe that the number of cameras on the roads may decrease by 50-70% due to this.

This is due to a decrease in the permitted locations for their installation. The amendments to the law prescribe only nine possible locations. Also, from the beginning of autumn, mobile cameras on the roads will be prohibited, as they cannot create a collage of photographs of the vehicle that committed the violation.

According to the amendments promoted by the Ministry of Transport, road cameras may be prohibited from being installed closer than one kilometer to each other in populated areas, and on highways - closer than five kilometers.
