Motul в России засветилась на «МотоВесне-2024» и пообещала снизить цены

Price reduction is expected as early as April

The French manufacturer of lubricants and motor oils, Motul, presented its stand at the recent Moscow exhibition "Moto Весна-2024."

According to Alexey Repnikov, Head of the Regional Sales Department of MOTOil LLC, in an interview with «АвтоВзгляд», Russia is currently receiving original motor oils from the company, which are produced in Vietnam. And they do not differ in quality from other products of the brand, since they are all "produced according to the same technological maps".

To avoid encountering counterfeit goods and fakes, which are now abundant in the market, he warned that Motul products should only be purchased from official distributors, regardless of the volume of oil needed: canister, barrel, or something else. In addition, prices for this manufacturer's oils will now be slightly lower.

We are tied to the national currency exchange rate, since we import all types of products, but now we have the opportunity to lower prices, rather than raise them, as it was last year. And many distributors are doing the same, which, in turn, will definitely affect the entire market — prices for motor oils will decrease.

After the sanctions pressure on Russia intensified in early 2022, and a number of European brands and manufacturers left the country, Motul did not. At the same time, prices for products increased by more than twenty percent, and in some cases, several times over.

In March 2022, Andrey Ivanov, head of the MotoMoscow and MotoRussia associations, published in his Telegram channel the personal opinion of one of the heads of Motul's supplier to the country, with his permission. It was stated that "Motul is not leaving the Russian Federation and never planned to", as "the brand distances itself from politics and under no circumstances is going to play this card". To this end, alternative supply channel options were developed: from the simplest to those that would be useful "in the event of measures of state coercion from the EU or the Russian Federation".

Regarding prices, it was noted that all purchases by partners are controlled so that artificial shortages are not created or purchases are not made for future resale from under the counter. The sharp increase in prices at the beginning of 2022 at points of sale was due to "exclusively the exchange rate difference, which is about 42% since the beginning of February."

Later, no loud official statements were received from Motul representatives regarding whether the company was thinking of staying in Russia. However, the representative office in Russia stopped actively maintaining its brand's pages on social networks. Just as distributors stopped openly and frequently appearing at events related to the country's auto-moto-transport life.
