Russia Increases Production of Krasnopol Shells Twentyfold

The production of the Russian guided artillery shell Krasnopol by High-Precision Systems has increased twentyfold in the last two years thanks to a state order.

This was announced by the General Director of the holding, Oleg Ryazantsev, on the Zvezda TV channel's Military Acceptance program.

The results of 2023 show that the holding was absolutely prepared for such a multiple increase in production under the state defense order. I will not name the nomenclature now, but you should know that the growth in relation to previous years can reach from 5 to 20 times for individual nomenclature items - well, this applies to guided artillery - Krasnopol.

This development of the KBP named after Academician A.G. Shipunov (part of High-Precision Systems) is suitable for all Russian artillery installations, up to the newest self-propelled guns Coalition-SV.

In the basic version, in addition to the high-explosive fragmentation guided projectile, the Krasnopol includes a laser designator rangefinder, which is used to aim at the target. The flight range of this ammunition reaches more than 20 km, the weight of the warhead is 8 kg. The Krasnopol target designator is capable of capturing up to three targets simultaneously. Its supplemented and export modification Krasnopol-M2 has a caliber of 155 mm and a range of 26 km.

In 2023, the ammunition was modernized, and by the end of the same year, improved Krasnopols entered the Russian army. The defense industry enterprise did not show the change in characteristics in detail in numbers for security reasons. At the same time, it was said that Krasnopol began to hit at a longer distance and became much more accurate. Also, representatives of the KBP at the end of 2023 announced that a new Russian powerful long-range ammunition would be created on the basis of Krasnopol.

Also, Vysokotochka developed a separate version of Krasnopol for use against the enemy from drones. The pilot operation of this type of projectile in May 2023 showed excellent results, and it is already on the balance sheet of the military.
