«Ростех» нарастил в полтора раза поставку новых БМП-3 российской армии

They can float in water and fire at the same time

Kurganmashzavod, part of the Rostec's High-Precision Complexes holding, has supplied the Russian troops with a new, first batch of BMP-3s this year.

Their number is not specified, but manufacturers note that their number has been delivered to the troops since the beginning of the year one and a half times more than in the same period of 2023.

Each BMP-3 of the latest series of production receives anti-cumulative grilles and armored screens at the factory. For already finished operated models, such additional protection kits are supplied separately. It is also expected that the BMP-3 will soon have a new fire control system and improved protection against drones and missiles.

The BMP-3 serves to transport and provide fire support to the military, destroy enemy manpower, its anti-tank weapons, tanks, lightly armored vehicles and low-speed air targets of the enemy.

It is armed with a 100-mm 2A70 gun capable of launching anti-tank guided missiles, a 30-mm 2A72 paired gun and three PKT machine guns, and has a multi-channel day and night sighting system.

The night channel with a thermal imaging camera of the BMP-3 allows it to effectively conduct reconnaissance and shooting not only in night conditions, but also in conditions of fog, dust or smoke. At the same time, it is possible to fire on the move at speeds up to 30 km/h, both at stationary and moving targets. In total, the BMP-3 can accelerate to 70 km/h.

If there are water obstacles in the place of service of the crew, the BMP-3 will cope with them. It can float at a speed of up to 10 km/h, while maintaining the ability to fire at targets on land and on water with sea waves up to one point.

The BMP-3 is constantly being supplemented. Of the latest options, unmanned versions can be noted. So, the automated version of the BMP-3 with the "Sinitsa" module can be controlled from a tablet - the risk of crew defeat is eliminated, and the combat characteristics remain. And the hardware and software complex for robotizing the Prometheus infantry fighting vehicle can serve even when there is a crew in the cabin. "Prometheus" for fire support, transportation of the military and warfare, however, can be installed on any BMP.
