The Russian Astron Design Bureau has modernized the mini-quadcopter UAV 400T with a thermal imager. The device is equipped with an improved high-aperture lens of domestic design, said Vitaly Serov, chief designer of the bureau.
A non-cooled bolometric matrix is used as a photodetector
According to him, the new lenses have minimal weight, as well as increased resolution. These are important parameters for a "flying thermal imager".
Currently, the UAV 400T is mass-produced. Its technical characteristics allow detecting the enemy at a distance of up to 400 m, and military equipment - up to 800 m. The quadcopter can fly at an altitude of up to 3 km for 45 m.
Earlier, specialists of AO Eniks installed a new thermal imager on the Eleron-7 reconnaissance drone.
