"Roscosmos" reported on how the "Skif-D" demonstration satellite was tested in space. It has been in orbit since 2022.
Russian equipment passed flight qualification during the tests. Technologies for controlling the spacecraft and accessing the Internet at a speed of 6.5 megabits per second were tested. The satellite also solved the problem of protecting the orbital frequency resource of the "Skif" satellite communication system.
Now, according to the rules of the International Telecommunication Union, it is necessary to submit repeated radio frequency applications in October 2024. This will be handled by the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems company, where "Skif-D" was developed.
In total, Russia will launch ten such satellite constellations for observation and remote sensing of the Earth as part of the "Sphere" program. Half of them will provide telephony and data transmission services, half will provide observation.
