The "Conveyor" project, aimed at significantly expanding production capacity in the assembly of small arms, has been completed at JSC "Kalashnikov" Concern. The initiative, which began in July 2022, was accompanied by profound changes in production processes and equipment modernization. As a result, within the framework of the "Conveyor" project, "Kalashnikov" was able to increase the throughput of the assembly shop by 30%.
The "Conveyor" project was undertaken within the framework of the weapons production division with the active participation of the production system development service. It included a phased improvement of production processes, the installation of additional equipment, including the modernization of the existing assembly line to achieve the required operating parameters.
The management of "Kalashnikov" notes the importance of using production system tools such as "flow balancing", "calculation of individual workload", "building a value stream map" and others. This comprehensive use of methods allowed for effective management of production processes, ensuring the smooth and timely operation of the assembly line.
Managing Director of JSC "Kalashnikov" Concern, Andrey Baryshnikov, emphasized that this project is not only a technological step forward, but also proof of the effectiveness and importance of lean manufacturing. The concern was able to complete the task of producing products on time and in the required volume, which is significant both for the concern and for its customers.
In September, for Gunsmith Day, the concern launched a new section for the production of guided artillery shell parts. The growth in production opens up new opportunities to meet the demand for high-quality weapons and confirms the commitment to technological development and innovation in this area.
