The automotive Telegram channel "No Limits" showed one of the secrets of the Aurus from the presidential "Cortege" – the inside of the car's wheels.
It is noted that the wheel with the "Kama NU402" tire, size 365/80R20, can withstand shelling and is capable of moving away from it at a speed of 50 km/h for a distance of at least 50 km.
It will also survive after the explosion of a mine with a capacity of 400 g in TNT equivalent, and after shots from small arms.
With a load of up to 3.5 tons, a car on "NU402" can reach a speed of 110 km/h, and with a lighter curb weight — up to 130 km/h.
Information about the new domestic development for the safety of the country's top officials appeared in open sources in 2015. Then, according to a source from "Izvestia", in addition to the "Cortege", combat-resistant wheels were to appear on a number of commercial armored vehicles, as well as on the "Boomerang" armored personnel carrier and the "Typhoon" armored car.
However, the super-wheel developers themselves then refused to comment on this information to journalists.
Later, "Kama" confirmed that such developments for the cars of top officials were indeed underway. According to company representatives, similar solutions for wheel survivability were at that time only available from one company in the world, the French Hutchinson.
