The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that the plant “Belgee” (a Belarusian-Chinese joint enterprise for assembling Geely cars, located in Zhodino - note from the editors of www1.ru) will reach a production volume of 120,000 cars per year in a few years.
Now, according to him, the plant engineers need to focus on maximum localization of units and components. Lukashenko made this statement during a meeting with young people at the Palace of Independence in Minsk.
The issue concerns the in-house production of engines and transmissions. According to the Belarusian leader, this is a difficult task, it will take some time to accomplish it. In addition, it is planned to open a body stamping shop at the Zhodino plant.

He emphasized that the citizens of Belarus should buy domestic cars. Lukashenko also expressed confidence that in the future drivers will prefer electric cars.
The “Belgee” plant was opened in 2017, where they engage in small-assembly of cars. The enterprise covers an area of 118 hectares. In 2023, the plant plans to produce 60,000 cars.
