Foreign software installed in Sapsan high-speed trains does not affect their performance and reliability. This opinion was expressed by the Deputy Head of Russian Railways, Evgeny Charkin, during a round table in the upper house of the Russian parliament.
According to Charkin, Russian Railways engineers are developing software solutions to ensure that rolling stock operates on Russian software in the future. At the same time, there are no problems with foreign software as such, the company representative summarized.
Sapsan trains were launched on the Moscow - St. Petersburg route in 2009. Later, the high-speed train began to depart from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod. In the first two years since the launch, Sapsan trains carried about 5 million passengers.
The German company Siemens was engaged in their maintenance. However, in the spring of 2022, Siemens management decided to leave the Russian market. Thus, Russian Railways specialists began to solve technical maintenance issues.
