In 2025, Russian sales of Lada cars decreased by 25%. At the same time, Belarusian crossovers Belgee X50 and Belgee X70 showed an increase of almost two times. The domestic brand Tenet (renamed and localized Chery) also achieved success, while the Geely, Chery and Changan brands are losing ground.
Last year, 1.306 million cars were sold, which is 16% less than in 2024. Despite this, Lada continues to be the market leader, but it is also becoming the main factor in its decline: in December, sales fell by 15%, and for the whole year — by 25%. Chinese brands show mixed results: Haval, which is assembled in Russia, looks more stable, while Geely, Chery and Changan lose up to 38% of their volumes.
Against the background of general negative trends, new and "re-assembled" brands come to the fore. The Tenet brand, which appeared in the statistics in 2025, has already sold 33.5 thousand cars, of which 12.2 thousand were sold in December. Belgee has become one of the key players, doubling its sales to 68.1 thousand cars, mainly thanks to the Belgee X50 and X70 crossovers. Solaris is also showing explosive growth, increasing sales by more than two times.
The used car market is stable and growing
The used car sector finished 2025 on a positive note, becoming a "safety cushion" for the entire car market. In December, 635.3 thousand transactions were registered, which is more than the figure of 524.4 thousand a year earlier. The market volume for the year amounted to 6.57 million cars, compared to 6.39 million in 2024.
December showed a classic dynamic: an increase of 21% compared to December 2024. Demand remains stable, as some buyers do not wait for favorable conditions for new cars and turn to the secondary market. Thus, with the fall of the primary market, the secondary market grew by 3% and stabilized at 6.5 million transactions.
Brands remained in their places, but the balance of power became clearer. Lada still occupies the first place: in December, re-registrations increased by 10% (up to 149.3 thousand cars), and for the year — to 1.62 million (+2%). Toyota and KIA are in second and third positions, with growth of 20% and 22% respectively in December. The Hyundai brand stands out in particular: its sales increased by 42% in December and by 14% for the year. BMW and Honda brands also show good growth, while Nissan, Renault and VW show a decrease.
At the model level, the "eternal classics" prevail: Lada Granta, 2107, 2114, Priora, Vesta, Niva Legend, as well as Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Ford Focus and Toyota Corolla. In most cases, they show an increase of 5% to 26% in December, and Granta shows an annual result of +13%.
While the new car market is shrinking, the secondary market is taking on the role of the main source of mobility: the volume of used cars is five times higher than new ones. An increase of 3% with a high key rate and a low level of economic confidence indicates the stability of the sector.
