Russia is considering the possibility of deploying advanced missile systems in Venezuela, including the "Oreshnik" medium-range ballistic missiles and the "Kalibr-K" cruise missiles. These systems have the potential to significantly alter the balance of power in the Caribbean region.
The "Oreshnik" missile is a mobile ballistic system with a range of up to 5,000 km and a flight speed of up to Mach 10. It can carry multiple warheads and employ rapid launch and relocation tactics, reducing the likelihood of detection and destruction. Such weaponry requires potential adversaries to strengthen their missile defense and intelligence systems in the region.
The "Kalibr-K" cruise missiles can be deployed on mobile platforms - trucks, trains, or civilian vessels. They fly at low altitudes, making them difficult to detect and intercept. These characteristics enhance the effectiveness of the systems in coastal and maritime areas.
Simultaneously, there is an increase in military activity in the Caribbean basin: a rise in the number of patrol operations, aviation flights, and ships with missile defense systems. In response, some countries in the region have announced an increase in their level of combat readiness.
Experts say that the creation and implementation of such systems will change the approach to security in the Western Hemisphere. The main focus is on strategic deterrence, rapid response, and the risks of proliferation of modern technologies.
Earlier,www1.ru reported thatthe reactors of "Burevestnik" and "Poseidon" could be used for peaceful purposes.
