Out of the hatchet: Russian military equipped the 152-mm self-propelled howitzer "Acacia" with "Buratino" dynamic protection

Crews are modernizing equipment on the spot, strengthening defense against kamikaze drones

Russian military personnel independently equipped a 152-mm 2S3 "Acacia" self-propelled howitzer with a Buratino anti-drone dynamic protection system. According to the military, additional modules are placed on the turret and hull of the self-propelled gun to increase the vehicle's resistance to attacks by drones using shaped-charge ammunition.

The unusual modernization was carried out in the field, which confirms the growing trend towards adapting military equipment to modern threats. The military notes that the installation of dynamic protection was a response to the active use of strike drones.

The crews claim that during testing, the complex proved to be effective, reducing the likelihood of the vehicle being hit from above. Similar initiatives, carried out literally "out of the hatchet", are increasingly appearing in the conflict zone, reflecting the rapid search for solutions to protect equipment and personnel.
