Auto expert Igor Morzharetto shared tips on how to protect a car from theft and scare away criminals. He talked about the most reliable and proven methods.
The surest way is insurance. It will not protect the car from theft, but at least it will compensate for the damage. You can install security systems - electronic or satellite. There are mechanical locks that are very useful to install. It takes a long time to mess with them, and often hijackers refuse to do so. There are different interrupters, electronic bugs.
Keep your car in a garage, in a parking lot, or under cameras. If this is not possible, leave it in a lighted place, not in a dark alley.
What cars do car thieves not touch?
Jan Haitseer, an expert in the field of automotive security, also spoke about methods of protecting vehicles from theft. In his opinion, attackers usually do not touch cars that have unique features. Such features include identification numbers that are applied to various parts of the car with a special device, or airbrushing.
According to Haitseer, drivers often provoke the theft of their car themselves. For example, they leave their keys unattended.
Cars with remote start and keyless entry systems are also vulnerable. The expert reminded that it is important for drivers not to forget about insurance.
Aggressive methods of theft
Auto expert Vladimir Sazhin spoke about a new way to steal cars using a tow truck. Attackers pour sand under the wheels of a car that is in "Parking". This allows you to lock the wheels and easily load the car onto the platform. According to Sazhin, passers-by rarely pay attention to such manipulations, since the evacuation of cars is no longer surprising.
The expert warned that a car can be stolen right on the street. Criminals can stop the car and tell the driver that he has a flat rear tire. While he is checking the wheels, the hijacker gets behind the wheel and drives away.
