The updated Tu-160M strategic bombers will be equipped with "Kinzhal" missiles - adapted to an aircraft carrier and air launch land-based missiles of the Iskander operational-tactical complex.
Military field testing showed that the complex fully meets the stated characteristics. However, the MiG-31K fighter is capable of carrying only one such missile, and it is logical to consider options for placing hypersonic "Kinzhal" missiles on heavier vehicles capable of taking several ammunition.
It is important that the speed and altitude of the Tu-160 are comparable to the MiG-31K. To bring the "Kinzhal" to hypersonic speed, it must be launched along a special trajectory from a high altitude and at the maximum speed of the carrier. The capabilities of the Tu-160 allow this.
It is also important that the "White Swan" will be able to carry a whole package of hypersonic missiles on board, that is, to hit several targets with one launch. And if we take into account that the range of the Tu-160 with one refueling is more than 7000 km, then the "Kinzhal" missiles launched from it will destroy enemy targets on the farthest approaches to the borders of Russia.
