The Geran-5 attack drone is called a direct continuation of the Geran-4, but in reality, it is a fundamentally new machine. This was stated by Academician Maxim Kondratyev of the Russian Engineering Academy.

According to him, the Geran-5 should be considered a hybrid system, whose characteristics have approached those of cruise missiles.
This is a fundamentally different machine. Yes, it is in the Geran line, but in terms of its characteristics, it is not a continuation. It is a new type of carrier, a new type of airframe, a fundamentally new solution that is not an evolutionary continuation of the Geran.
In addition, the Geran-5 has a new modification with the index "K5". It is this apparatus that received a modified fuselage and the Susanin optical trajectory correction system.
For example, the same principle is used in Kh-101 missiles for Tu-160 bombers.
