Russian aerospace company BURO 1440 (part of “IKS Holding”) and mobile operator MegaFon conducted the first test of hybrid communication via a Russian low-orbit constellation, “Pervy Tekhnichesky” was informed by the press service of BURO 1440. Terrestrial radio access was provided by a YADRO base station. The technology was demonstrated at the “Digital Solutions” forum in Moscow, with a live broadcast from Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Engineering teams ensured end-to-end high-speed data transmission from the subscriber device through a domestic base station and a satellite channel — without laying a terrestrial transport line. The live broadcast from the Siberian taiga to the videoconference site in Moscow allowed forum participants to evaluate the synergy of space and terrestrial infrastructure in real time within an active network.
The solution is based on the integration of BURO 1440's satellite system with MegaFon's mobile network. For the first time in Russia, a satellite terminal provided data transmission between a remote site and the operator's network core via a low-orbit constellation, while a YADRO base station provided radio access for subscriber devices. This scheme allows for the development of high-speed mobile coverage and a manifold increase in data volume in any location — from remote industrial facilities and expeditions to emergency zones.
