Russia has achieved full technological sovereignty in hydropower. Domestic manufacturers can produce equipment for all stages of HPP construction and modernization. This was announced to journalists by Sergey Kondratyev, First Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of RusHydro.

According to Kondratyev, Russia can provide equipment for the entire cycle - from creating the dam site and forming the dam to managing the station. All of this is done by enterprises of the domestic industry.

Vladimir Demyanov, Deputy General Director of Silovye Mashiny and Head of the Hydropower Division, previously told TASS that the company is capable of annually producing a full range of equipment for HPPs. This refers to the production of up to 10 sets with a capacity of up to 2 GW.

The General Scheme for the Placement of Electric Power Facilities until 2042 provides for the commissioning of 6.7 GW of new hydropower generation - seven HPPs and four PSPPs. This will require 37 hydro units of various capacities. The nearest launches are scheduled for 2031 (eight hydro units) and 2032 (13 hydro units).
