Construction of the Nikhaloy HPP with a capacity of 23 MW continues in Chechnya, where two vertical radial-axial hydro-units designed for a water head of 74.8 meters will be installed. The progress of work in the Shatoysky district was assessed by the Minister of Industry, Trade, Fuel and Energy of the republic, Iles Masaev.

The station has been under construction on the Argun River since July 2024. To date, workers have completed the excavation of a nearly three-kilometer-long diversion tunnel, through which water will be directed to the hydro-units. Currently, the main efforts are focused on the construction of the HPP building and the structures of the head-station unit.

Two vertical radial-axial turbines will be housed in the machine hall. Their operating head will be 74.8 meters. Equipment for the station is manufactured by Russian enterprises: turbines are supplied by AO TYAZHMASH, and generators by OOO Elektroztyazhmash-Privod.

The HPP building itself will be a five-story monolithic structure with two underground levels. Its construction will require about 8.4 thousand cubic meters of concrete and 376 tons of rebar. Approximately 300 specialists and more than 50 units of equipment are involved on site.

After completion of construction, the installed capacity of the Nikhaloy HPP will be 23 MW. The station will be able to produce about 105 million kWh of electricity per year and will become the largest hydropower facility in Chechnya. Commissioning is scheduled for 2028.
