New batches of Su-34 fighter-bombers are already in production, Rostec announced. Earlier, the United Aircraft Corporation, as part of the state defense order, transferred another batch of these aircraft to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

How many are produced

The Su-34 is produced by the Chkalov Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association — the only enterprise in Russia that manufactures this type. According to the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST), by early 2026, the Russian Aerospace Forces received 212 Su-34s, including seven prototypes and pre-production aircraft. In 2024, the plant delivered 15–16 serial aircraft, and in 2025 — another 18.

Estimates of production rates vary. Defence24 estimated Su-34 production in 2024 at 10 aircraft, while RUSI (an organization recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation) estimated an average of 10–12 per year for the period 2020–2025. At the same time, in April 2025, it was reported that the Novosibirsk plant had doubled its production rates compared to pre-2022 levels, reaching approximately 30 aircraft per year.

Sales to other countries

Algeria became the first and only foreign operator of the Su-34. A contract for the supply of 14 Su-34ME was signed in December 2019. The first batch of four aircraft arrived at the Laghouat airbase in early 2026.

The Su-34ME is an export version of the modernized bomber. The aircraft is equipped with an Sh-141 radar with a phased array antenna, an OLS-35 optoelectronic system, and a Khibiny-M electronic warfare complex. The maximum combat load is up to 14 tons on 12 hardpoints.

The Su-34 is a two-seat supersonic fighter-bomber. It is designed to destroy ground, surface, and air targets, as well as infrastructure facilities covered by air defense systems. Thanks to its large internal fuel tank capacity and economical engines, it can perform non-stop flights lasting up to 10 hours.
