Rosstat listed the signs by which one can recognize fraudsters posing as employees of the statistical service. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

What should be alarming
Refusal to show a Rosstat employee ID or passport during a survey is the first alarming signal. A real specialist presents documents without reminders.
Signs of fraud also include requests to provide a code from an SMS, inspect an apartment and property, download a third-party application, or follow unknown links. Attackers may be interested in bank account details, logins and passwords for banking applications and the public services portal.
Sometimes fraudsters play on fear: they threaten with prosecution, non-payment of pensions and other benefits.
A Rosstat employee always carries an ID, a bag, stationery, and forms with corporate symbols. All surveys are conducted by interviewing at the place of residence.
If in doubt, you can call the territorial body of Rosstat and clarify whether a survey is being conducted at a specific address.
