The cargo-passenger ferry "Nelkan", which stood for several years in Khabarovsk Krai, will be sent for repairs in 2027. This was announced by the region's governor, Dmitry Demeshin.

The local administration acquired the 40-ton capacity ferry back in 2019. But as soon as the vessel went into the water, it turned out that it could not be operated — the ferry was technically faulty.

According to him, Khabarovsk specialists could not fix the problem. A decision was made to send "Nelkan" to the factory. Currently, the ferry is mothballed and stands in the backwater.

Demeshin instructed the Ministry of Transport of Khabarovsk Krai to develop a modernization project for the vessel. In late May 2027, it will be towed to Yakutia via the Lena basin.

After repairs, "Nelkan" will operate on the route in the Ayano-Maysky district. Currently, the SPZh-113 ferry operates on the crossing, the governor concluded.
