Innopolis University has developed a training module for students of technical universities, dedicated to the use of AI and data analysis in mechanical engineering. As part of the course, future engineers will learn to predict equipment failures, assess its remaining life, and plan maintenance. The program was named "Predictive Analytics and Intelligent Maintenance Planning in Mechanical Engineering". Details were revealed to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" by the Innopolis press service.

The first university to include the module in its curriculum was Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after Kh. M. Berbekov. The first 14 students will begin studying the module in the sixth semester of the 2026/27 academic year.
During classes, students will work with industrial data and build models to predict possible equipment failures and assess its remaining life. A separate block is dedicated to AI tools used in maintenance planning, equipment condition monitoring, and evaluation of the results of such work.
The practical part includes Python, machine learning libraries and tools, structured query language, and data visualization tools. Thus, as part of the course, students will work not only with robotics but also with data analysis methods applied in the operation of industrial equipment.
Upon studying the module as a separate course, its graduates, according to the program description, will be able to work in areas related to data analysis, predictive analytics, and digital maintenance and repair.
The development of industry-specific AI modules is carried out by Innopolis University within the framework of the federal project "Artificial Intelligence" of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State". Previously, university specialists developed educational modules for other areas, including education, medicine, and cheminformatics.
