The sixth and seventh generations of mobile communication (6G and 7G) are considered promising technologies for various fields, including distance education using virtual reality (VR). This is stated in the presentation of Yuri Urlichich, advisor to the general director of FSUE "Kosmicheskaya Svyaz" (Space Communications), which he delivered at the Satcomrus-2026 conference in Nizhny Novgorod.

The presentation also named intelligent healthcare, biomedicine, remote surgery, diagnostics, and telemedicine. These can be applied in communication with people with disabilities (PWD) and in the "smart city" system.

Alexey Volin, General Director of FSUE "Kosmicheskaya Svyaz", also spoke at the conference. According to his presentation, more than 30 million people and almost 5 million devices use satellite communications daily, including television. In the coming years, the demand for satellite communications will grow due to the development of drones and transport, his presentation states.

According to his presentation, global internet traffic will grow 4 times by 2030, and in Russia — 2.5 times. Global streaming video traffic will triple, and in Russia — double.
