AvtoVAZ will officially launch serial production of the Lada Azimut crossover at its Tolyatti plant on September 25. This was announced to journalists by the head of the company, Maxim Sokolov.

According to Sokolov, the ceremonial launch on the conveyor will take place after noon. Despite the fact that several hundred test and production units have already been produced, which have undergone testing, and some cars are already driving in Moscow, the official start will be given on September 25.

In 2026, the company plans to produce several thousand cars. The exact volume will depend on the acceleration of sales, which are two to three months behind production.

For 2027, the target is about 20,000 vehicles. Sokolov noted that the company does not see super-optimistic market prospects, but sales in the first quarter will 'ramp up' across the entire dealer network.

About the model

Lada Azimut is the second, deeply modernized version of the Vesta platform. The official presentation of the car took place at PMIEF-2025. The initial powertrain lineup includes modernized naturally aspirated engines with volumes of 1.6 and 1.8 liters, producing 120 and 132 hp, respectively. Transmissions include a six-speed manual and a variator. A turbocharged engine with 150 hp and a classic automatic transmission is expected in the future.

Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov previously reported that Lada Azimut would be produced in quantities of 70,000 units per year. Sokolov clarified that this is the potential maximum for which the modernization of the first conveyor line in Tolyatti was aimed. Currently, Lada Vesta and Lada Aura are also produced on this line.
