Sber has started testing the issuance of bank cards directly through ATMs. The pilot was launched in Nizhny Novgorod: at the first stage, 70 devices in the city received the new function.

To apply, a SberBank Online user needs to select the “Get a card” option in the ATM and go through authorization. After that, the device issues an unpersonalized plastic SberCard of the Mir payment system in approximately 30 seconds.

The application does not end there: the received card must be activated through the bank's application. The entire process from start to a ready-to-use card takes about two minutes.

For now, the new method only works as part of a pilot. Sber intends to assess its demand and, after testing, decide whether to launch card issuance through ATMs in other regions.

Modern bank devices are already used not only for cash transactions and payments. Some ATMs support currency exchange, express health assessment, and interaction with the GigaChat AI assistant. Now, the issuance of the bank card itself has been added to these scenarios.
