The Bank of Russia is exploring the possibility of withdrawing cash directly from a digital ruble account via an ATM. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank, Zulfiya Kakhrumanova, during an online lesson for schoolchildren.

Currently, the scheme is more complex. To receive digital rubles in cash, the user first needs to open the bank's application, transfer them from a digital wallet to a regular bank account, and only then go to an ATM.

In the future, this intermediate step is intended to be removed. According to the Central Bank's plan, a person will be able to select a digital ruble account directly when withdrawing cash and receive money without manual transfer between their accounts in the application.

The reverse operation also currently goes through a regular bank account. If a user wants to top up a digital wallet with cash, the money must first be deposited via an ATM or cashier, and then transferred to digital rubles through the application.

The Central Bank has not yet announced the launch dates for the new function. This is a possibility that is under development and should make the use of the digital ruble closer to familiar operations with a regular bank card.
