A new Russian cutting fluid was tested at the Baranov Omsk Engine Building Association. The plant produces engine components, including NK-32 parts for the Tu-160M strategic bomber.

The new cutting fluid was tested directly in the mechanical assembly shop. The compound was used during turning of parts made of heat-resistant nickel and titanium alloys on a CNC machine – materials that require precise control of temperature and friction.
During the tests, the physicochemical properties of the compound, its corrosive activity, its effect on tools and the quality of part processing, as well as the possibility of its application under various technological regimes, were evaluated.
The fluid showed decent results in all key parameters. It is recognized as suitable for use on CNC machines and is recommended for use at our enterprise as one of the analogues of cutting fluid.
Cutting fluid simultaneously cools the cutting zone, reduces friction, protects the tool and workpiece from corrosion, and helps remove chips.
Recall that OMO named after Baranov produces rotor disks, deflectors, shafts, and other components of the hot section of the NK-32 engine.
