Military expert Alexey Podberezkin stated that Russian armaments are currently being modernized approximately every one and a half months. As examples, he cited the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile-gun system and Kalibr cruise missiles.
According to him, the continuous improvement of armaments is associated with the need to take into account new requirements and experience in using equipment.
The same Pantsir has been modified more than 20 times, and Kalibr cruise missiles — about 15 times. Frankly speaking, after the devastation of the 1990s, we have created real military-industrial production. And no other country in the world has this.
Podberezkin did not specify which changes he attributes to individual Kalibr modernizations and by which missile versions the count is being made.
Earlier, www1.ru, citing military analyst Evgeny Damantsev, reported on the announced modernized version of the 3M14 Kalibr missile with a cluster warhead. According to Damantsev, the new configuration is also related to changes in the component base.
The flight speed of cruise missiles is up to 850-950 km/h, the range is up to 2500 km, the effective reflective surface of Kalibrs is 0.1 m².
