Sinara – Gorodskie Mashiny company has opened a large-unit assembly site for low-floor "Sinara-6254" trolleybuses in Saransk. Production was launched at the municipal enterprise "Gorelektrotrans". In 2026, they plan to assemble 10 vehicles here, and another 140 by 2029.

For now, it's about large-unit assembly. In the first stage, specialists will perform work in the cabin: installing seats, ceiling upholstery, side panel cladding, handrails, heaters, and telematics equipment.
In 2027, the list of operations will expand. The site will begin installing electrical equipment, including energy storage systems, current collectors, thermoregulation systems, and external lighting. Energy storage systems will be supplied by the Saransk company "Algoritm S", which has been producing such complexes at its own production site since 2025.
In 2028, the project should transition to a full cycle. At that time, Saransk plans to master the installation of the power unit and commissioning. Thus, localization will be gradually increased, rather than starting immediately with full trolleybus production.
The entire program is designed for 150 trolleybuses. Of these, 10 are to be assembled in 2026, and another 140 by 2029. In the future, the production site will be able to produce about 50 vehicles per year.

"Sinara-6254" is already being produced at the Chelyabinsk Urban Electric Transport Plant. Serial production of the model began in 2023, and the trolleybuses themselves operate in several Russian cities.
However, the experience of operating the model has been mixed so far. Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" reported that in Chelyabinsk, out of 168 new trolleybuses, 66 were in the depot. According to Ural Mash, problems included failures of control electronics and autonomous running systems. The manufacturer, operator, and regional Ministry of Transport had not commented on the situation at the time of publication.
The Saransk project is still in its initial stages. Therefore, its outcome will depend not only on the number of assembled vehicles but also on how effectively the site can transition from simple cabin operations to electrical equipment installation and then to a full assembly cycle.
