The Aerospace Forces have at least six MiG-35 interceptor fighters in service. This data, citing an assessment by specialized foreign studies, was reported by the publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya".

For example, the more numerous MiG-29s in the air fleet are estimated at 90 units. Foreign sources also highlight about 10 MiG-29 fighters stationed outside Russia at bases in Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

The publication "Voennoye Obozreniye", citing foreign sources, reported that the production of MiG-35 fighters could be revived for transfer to the Air Force of North Korea.

Nikolay Chikunov, a Category I Design Engineer at the A.I. Mikoyan Design Bureau, stated to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that the MiG-35 can be effectively used to combat drones, although it was originally designed to perform a wider range of combat missions.
