Russia's "Arctic LNG 2", amidst American sanctions, almost doubled its daily gas production and reached record levels for the project in the summer. In July and August, the enterprise produced more than 27 million cubic meters of gas per day, which is approximately twice the level of August 2025, Bloomberg reports, citing its sources.

The sharp increase in production coincided with an increase in product exports: in each of the two summer months, LNG exports from the project exceeded 500 thousand tons, setting a new maximum. For comparison, 27 million cubic meters per day is more than 800 million cubic meters of gas per month if the pace is maintained for 30 days, so the production dynamics already go beyond a small fluctuation in the enterprise's load.

The key limitation for "Arctic LNG 2" after the introduction of sanctions was not only sales but also maritime logistics.

According to Bloomberg, the number of vessels associated with the project increased from at least 11 at the end of December 2025 to 20 by early autumn 2026; most have an opaque ownership structure. It was the expansion of the available fleet that allowed for an increase in LNG shipments to China, which remains the sole buyer of the project's products.

"Arctic LNG 2" fell under blocking US sanctions in 2023, after which the project faced problems with gas carriers, financing, and product sales. Now, the increase in production and exports shows that sanction restrictions have not stopped the enterprise's operations, although they do not allow for a complete elimination of dependence on a specialized fleet.
