The GTA-8R marine power unit with a capacity of 8 MW will not meet the previously announced schedule. In 2023, Rostec reported that development was planned to be completed and equipment deliveries to begin in 2026. Now UEC has named a different deadline – the production of the first samples is scheduled for 2027.

The unit is being created based on the E70/8RD ship engine for the energy of offshore production platforms and large-capacity vessels.

In its current configuration, the GTA-8R features a vertical exhaust, a single frame with oil tanks, and a complex of air purification devices.

The GTA-8R is designed to deliver 8 MW and be used as a marine power unit for Russian equipment and fuel and energy complex facilities.

In parallel, the United Shipbuilding Corporation has begun developing its own low-speed engines for large-capacity vessels.
