United Engine Corporation (UEC) presented a new energy solution for the national project "New Nuclear and Energy Technologies." The company's division, UEC Engineering, is developing an 8-megawatt power unit based on the E70/8RD marine gas turbine engine. This equipment is designed to supply electricity to offshore platforms and onshore mining complexes.
The designers have adapted the power plant for continuous operation in salty air, high humidity, and temperature extremes.
The main technical difference of the unit is the dual-fuel scheme. The engine automatically changes the type of fuel during operation, while the generation power remains stable.
The corporation's specialists explained that there are currently no other gas turbine machines with similar functionality in Russia. The engineers also noted that the project meets the industry's need for reliable domestic equipment for remote facilities. Full-scale testing and the launch of mass production are planned for the coming years. The development team has not yet announced specific dates for the product's release to the market.
