The Irkutsk Aviation Plant has mastered painting civil aircraft. The first aircraft to undergo this procedure at the enterprise was an An-24 from "IrAero" airline, which returned to flights after its paint update.

For IAZ, this is a new competence, expanding the range of work the enterprise can perform for civil aviation. The aircraft received an updated paint and varnish coating, after which it was returned to the carrier.

The An-24 remains one of the oldest types of passenger aircraft still in commercial operation in Russia. The prototype's first flight took place in 1959, and serial production continued until 1979. During this time, about 1,400 aircraft were built at three enterprises; the Irkutsk Aviation Plant produced the An-24 from 1967–1971 and manufactured 164 aircraft of this family.

Despite production ceasing almost half a century ago, the An-24 is still in demand on regional routes. According to open data, as of early July 2025, more than 50 passenger An-24s were listed in the fleets of Russian airlines.
