Lifespan of Half-Century-Old An-24s in Russia to be Extended to 60 Years: Civil Aviation is Aging

About 50 aircraft remain in commercial operation

Rosaviatsiya will consider extending the lifespan of half-century-old An-24 aircraft, a practice that already exists. This was stated by the head of the agency, Dmitry Yadrov.

According to him, the operation of turboprop An-24s can be extended to 60 years.

We are working with institutes to extend the lifespan. And there is already a practice of extending these machines to 60 years, but there are not many of them left in commercial operation, just over 50.

The An-24 is a Soviet passenger and military transport aircraft designed to carry up to 52 passengers over distances of up to 1850 km.

Engines - 2 TVD AI-24, variants An-24RV and An-24RT are also equipped with APU RU-19A-300. The first flight of the prototype An-24 USSR-L1959 took place October 29, 1959. Recently, several aviation incidents have occurred with the An-24.
