RusHydro, Russia's largest power company by installed capacity, showcased a model of the Nizhny-Zeya hydroelectric power plant in the Amur Region at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), TASS reports.

The installed capacity of the plant will be 428 MW, with an average annual output of about 2130 million kWh. According to RusHydro's press service, design will be completed in September 2026, and construction will take up to nine years. For comparison: Nizhny-Zeya HPP will be more powerful than Ivanovskaya (210 MW) and Nizhny-Nimanskaya (360 MW), but will be less powerful than Mokskaya (1200 MW) and Kankunskaya (1000 MW). Primorskaya PSP will receive up to 662 MW.

The Nizhny-Zeya HPP is part of a large-scale program: by 2039, 3.77 GW of hydropower generation and PSPs will be commissioned in the Far East. In total, the general scheme until 2042 provides for the commissioning of 4.2 GW of HPP capacity. The Ivanovskaya and Mokskaya HPPs in Buryatia, Nizhny-Nimanskaya in Khabarovsk Krai, Kankunskaya in Yakutia, and Primorskaya PSP in Primorsky Krai are also being designed.
