The Su-35S remains the most numerous of modern Russian multi-role fighters in terms of the number of aircraft built, despite the ongoing production of the newer Su-57. This is highlighted by "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" when analyzing open data on the production and deliveries of Russian combat aircraft.

The exact production volumes of the Su-35S are not officially disclosed. According to available estimates, at least 160 such fighters were built by 2026, while the production of the fifth-generation Su-57, according to Military Watch Magazine analysts, amounted to about 50–60 aircraft by August 2026. The difference shows how much larger the existing Su-35S fleet remains, despite the ongoing serial production of the newer fighter.

The Su-35S is a heavy multi-role fighter of generation 4++, while the Su-57 was created as a fifth-generation aircraft. Both aircraft continue to be produced but belong to different generations.

The Su-30SM2 remains the third serial Russian multi-role fighter. Russian industry simultaneously produces two heavy 4++ generation fighters and the newest Su-57. At the same time, the Su-35S has the largest fleet among these three models.

The latest batch, delivered on August 27, shows that Su-35S production continues in 2026. OAK did not disclose the number of aircraft in the delivery but confirmed the transfer of the machines to the military after the completion of the production cycle.

It is the scale of the already created fleet that makes the Su-35S interesting against the background of the Su-57: the newer fighter is gradually increasing its presence, but in terms of the number of aircraft built, the Russian 4++ generation aircraft still maintains a significant lead.
