As of August 2026, Russia has built 50-60 fifth-generation Su-57 fighters. This assessment was made by analysts from Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
The authors of the article noted that while in 2022 there were only about six combat aircraft in service, four years later the situation changed dramatically.
Since then, the fleet has rapidly expanded, and an estimated 50-60 aircraft are currently in operation. Kh-59/69 cruise missiles remain the primary weapon for precision strikes.
The publication added that the Su-57 is significantly more complex than other main Russian fighters. Its cost is more than twice that of the Su-35S and almost three times that of the Su-30SM, despite using a common engine type.
Previously, in the West, the price of one Su-57 was estimated at around $50 million depending on the specific configuration. For comparison, the American F-35 costs about $135 million, which is 2.6 times more expensive, even without considering maintenance.
